About Us:

With our extensive experience in accrediting international TEFL/TESOL courses for established training companies, we believe it is now the right time to extend this accreditation service to independent TEFL/TESOL providers and startups who are prepared to meet the rigorous standards established by GATES TEFL. The GATES TEFL standards can be reviewed under the heading ‘TEFL-TESOL Standards’.

  • Francois van Deventer: Francois began his career as a schoolteacher in South Africa and has been teaching TEFL in China for over 10 years, where he continues to make a significant impact, particularly through his specialization in teaching Business English.
  • Samai Maneesaeng: A teacher of English within the TEFL field and the author of several English textbooks tailored for Southeast Asian learners, Samai has taught TEFL courses for many years across various countries in Asia.

Each member of the team possesses extensive and in-depth experience in learning and development strategies, assessment, and accreditation on a global scale. They have contributed to projects across various regions of the world. It goes without saying that they are all highly qualified in every aspect of learning and development, as well as accreditation. All team members have served as trainers and training managers, a prerequisite for this role.

With many years of successful collaboration with numerous organisations worldwide, they have supported a wide range of learning and development strategies, as well as assessment and accreditation initiatives. Consequently, the team has established a stellar reputation for maintaining high standards, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and ensuring accurate results from the outset.

Who are we?

The Accreditation Mentorship Team.

All accreditation for TEFL/TESOL training providers is authorised by the accreditation mentorship Team.

Our accreditation mentorship team for TEFL/TESOL comprises highly experienced TEFL/TESOL educators who are currently involved in teaching and course design on the global stage. We believe that this hands-on approach provides us with invaluable insightsfor accreditation purposes.

The team includes:

  • Stephen Hughes (Head Accreditation Mentor): Stephen began his career as a teacher in British public schools before moving on to teach English in Southeast Asia and China. He later served as the director of the English programme at a Thai school, where he also supervised the development of courses across all subjects, authored by the teachers at the school.  Stephen now dedicates his time to accrediting international TEFL courses at GATES.
  • Sandra Edwards: A British high school English teacher, Sandra relocated to Europe and has spent several years teaching TEFL/TESOL in Spain, Italy, Poland, and Georgia.
  • Brian Martin: After teaching in US government schools, Brian transitioned into the TEFL/TESOL field in Argentina, where he taught for several years. He now delivers TEFL/TESOL courses across the Americas.
